To mainstream the socially excluded through awareness, capacity building and promoting good governance for sustainable development.
A just society where people live with dignity and self reliance by ensuring equal opportunity for development and respect for natural resources.
The term “just” refers to a society where there is no discrimination and where there is social justice for all.
The term “dignity” is very important for DISHA that each and every of the members of our society especially the socially excluded groups are able to live a respectful life.
The term “self reliance” means that the people and the communities are independent, are able to access all their rights and are able to live a good quality of life.
The term "Social exclusion” is a process whereby certain individuals are pushed to the edge of society and prevented from participating fully by virtue of their poverty, or lack of basic competencies and lifelong learning opportunities, or as a result of discrimination. This distances them from job, income and education and training opportunities, as well as social and community networks and activities. They have little access to power and decision-making bodies and thus often feel powerless and unable to take control over the decisions that affect their day to day lives.
